Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) today toured Henry Ford College in Dearborn with HFC President Russell Kavalhuna to highlight a $2 million federal investment she secured in the omnibus appropriation package to support innovations in workforce education.

"Henry Ford College is training the next generation of American workers through their Technology Skills Development and Career Promise Program," said Dingell. "By investing in this important program, we can ensure more of our students have the tools and skills they need to excel in advanced industries that are facing significant labor shortages."

"This grant will enable HFC to expand our innovative workforce and energy initiatives, which we are calling "Building a Bridge to Brilliance.' These initiatives, which focus on technical education programs, already produce skilled talent in industry sectors that are experiencing critical labor shortages. We are doubling down on those efforts as part of our student success focus," said HFC President Russell Kavalhuna. "Congresswoman Dingell has been a longstanding ally and advocate for this College, this community, and this state. Her support has been strong, consistent, and invaluable, and we are grateful for her leadership."

Dingell secured the $2 million federal investment as part of her Community Project Funding requests for Fiscal Year 2022. Altogether, Dingell secured $13,774,000 in federal funding for community projects throughout Michigan's 12th Congressional District in the annual appropriations omnibus package. Dingell's community project funding opportunities directly invest in projects to protect the environment, strengthen public safety, increase access to affordable housing and health care, and support early education and workforce development.
